Christoph Weinert studied film and fine arts. From 1991 – 1993 he worked as 1st assistant director in France and Germany. Since 1994 he has been a freelance author and director of numerous, mostly international film and television productions. In 2011, he won the ‘Special Jury Prize‘ at the ‘International Film Festival‘ in Houston/Texas with his two films BIRTH OF A LEGEND and BLUE JEANS BILLONAIRE, produced in Germany and the USA. With his film EIGHT BROTHERS AND SISTERS, which premiered at the ‘56th Hof International Film Festival‘ and was awarded ‘Best Documentary‘ at the ‘Snowdance Independent Film Festival‘ in 2023, he introduced the term ‘non-fictional narrative cinema‘. His most recent film I DANCE, BUT MY HEART IS CRYING premiered in Berlin in spring 2024. Christoph Weinert is based in Hamburg and Berlin and is currently developing several projects for the German and international cinema and TV market.
